Break out the gingerbread (perfume)

Today I walked from Belmont and Kedzie to Belmont and Sheffield. I thought about how I’d like to be able to run that distance.

It’s nice to walk down the side streets in quiet neighborhoods, or to see how much being a block in from a busy street makes. At a weird 62 degrees, it was a nice temperature to crunch leaves.

Fall! Sweaters, suede, boots, lipstick and scarves! Cinnamon and cloves in everything, gourds, mulled wine, pumpkin pie! In the summer, I wore a delicious Gingerbread perfume to remind me of this time. We’re not ready for hot chocolate and roasted chestnuts just yet, however. Holly and wreathes can wait. It’s time to breathe in the fall air. I wish more people would burn wood and leaves illegally to add to the ambiance.
